Directed By: Chloe Zhao

Directing – 8

I think Zhao’s direction for this film was good. It did feel rushed at times. For the movie being about 2 hours and 37 minutes, I wouldn’t have minded an extra 30 minutes.

Cinematography – 10

This film looks beautiful. At times, some of the shots feel unique to some other MCU entries.

Score – 10

The score is great. To be expected.

Story – 7

The story follows immortal beings that are sent to Earth to stop the Deviants. The film is told in a very non-linear fashion, not in your typical MCU structure. There are typical MCU tropes; however, for the most part, the structure is pretty unique for an MCU film. The film doesn’t always give you all the answers right away. It is presented that you’ll go on the journey with these characters. The humor is also very MCU. Some works, some don’t. I thought some of the characters were developed well, others not so much. This film is also a look at humanity and how while it is very flawed, there is still beauty within it. There’s also a look into human evolution, etc. It’s best not to go too in-depth.

Acting – 9

The acting in the film is great, one actor got on my nerves, but that’s it.

Post-Production – 8

The editing did a pretty solid job. The effects are great; however, some of the effects are noticeable.

Entertainment – 9

Overall I think it is a pretty solid film. The critics are definitely a little too harsh with this film.

Final Rating

8.8/10 – Pretty Good MCU Film.
