J.J. did a great job with the direction of this film. I think he made great choices. J.J. proves that he is a pretty competent director.
Cinematography – 10
The cinematography is incredible. I think the visuals look beautiful.
Score – 10
Giacchino’s score was amazing. Possibly his best work.
Story – 10
The story follows James T. Kirk and Spock as their paths cross and how they end up becoming foes to associates and later friends. Kirk and Spock’s arcs were handled well. Kirk is a bit of a showoff, selfish prick, while Spock is half human and half Vulcan. Kirk has to learn how to become a more responsible leader, while Spock has to learn to accept his humanity. It was also great that some of the conflicts came from one another. Both grew into the new person they were shaped to be, and I thought it was done well. Some of the possible themes explored are friendship, sacrifice, responsibility, and humanity.
Acting – 10
Everyone did an excellent job with playing their characters.

Post-production for the film was great.
Entertainment – 10
This film is very engaging, a great film all around.
