Directing – 7
I think Cretton’s direction for the movie was fine. I thought he made really unique choices. Some choices I liked, others I felt wasn’t the best. Overall, I thought the direction was solid.
Cinematography – 10
The cinematography was great. Marvel is incredibly underrated when it comes to filmmaking. They tend to get pushed to the side as if they aren’t good. However, they do know how to make their films look visually striking.
Score – 10
Marvel is also great when it comes to scoring films. Amazing visuals and a great score are two things you can expect from almost every Marvel film.
Story – 7
The story is about Shang-Chi hiding in the real world as Shawn ends up begin found by his father and his acquaintances, he must do what he can to stop his father before he makes a big mistake that could lead to the end. I won’t go too in-depth so I don’t reveal spoilers I will just say the plot and the story is something I feel many people have seen before. However, I do think it was overall still a good story. With some flaws here and there, but fine as a whole.
Acting – 9
The acting was fine. I do think Awkwafina was good; however, she does have that type of persona where she tries to do a little too much. She wasn’t bad, she just could have toned down a little. Simu Liu was great as Shang-Chi. The many supporting cast members: Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Fala Chen, Michelle Yeoh, etc. Were all good as well.
Post – Production – 8
The visuals were amazing, there were some editing choices that could have been a little different, I also do think that the effects are a little noticeable later on.
Entertainment – 8
Overall, I did have some issues with the film, but I think as a whole it was a pretty good Marvel movie. I think it might be the best MCU film since Endgame. Was it perfect? No, it had some flaws, but I think as a film overall, it was solid.
