Directed By: Dan Trachtenberg

Directing – 9

Trachtenberg directs this movie near perfectly. The film is captivating. You are constantly on edge. You want to know what is going to happen next. Will our protagonist survive? Will they get out of this insane situation? The last 10 to 15 minutes; however, it did not need to be in this movie. Other than that, I loved the film. I thought it was awesome.

Cinematography – 10

The cinematography is great. It feels very low budget, not a lot of crazy camera work is needed to tell this captivating story.

Score – 10

The score is good. It’s mysterious, eerie, and thrilling when needed.

Story – 9

The story follows Michelle as she survives a near-fatal accident and wakes up in a mysterious bunker. The man named Howard claims he has saved her and that they are staying down in the bunker and they cannot leave because something incredibly terrible has happened, or so he says. That is for our audience to take the journey to see if something is indeed wrong or not. The story is riveting because we are constantly on the edge of our seats. We want to know what is going to happen next. This film makes you ask questions, and you don’t get the answers right away. You have to go on the journey and get the answers to your questions. And it does a remarkable job with that. So there is an ending to the film, but it felt a little unnecessary. The film was perfect to a certain point.

Acting – 10

The acting was incredible. Everyone did an excellent job. The standout was John Goodman. This man was an absolute show-stealer. He is a man, who is deranged; however, somewhat frighteningly logical.

Post-Production – 9

Everything was fine until the last 5 to 10 minutes. The effects towards the end looked very much like effects.

Entertainment – 9

This film was captivating for its near entirety. The last 5 to 10 minutes felt unnecessary besides that this movie was phenomenal. It was an incredible thriller, with great performances, a great story, a captivating premise. It had almost everything for a near-perfect thriller. Just the last 5 to 10 minutes felt unnecessary. Regardless, this film is a must-watch!

Final Rating

9.4/10 – Must Watch Thriller!
