Directing – 8

The direction for this film was actually pretty good. I don’t have too many issues with the film’s direction. Maybe it’s pacing at times. I also think that it could have used more practicality to make some scenes look a little bit realistic.

Cinematography – 8

The cinematography for the film was good. At times some scenes look a bit odd when there is a green screen or effects in place.

Score – 10

The score for the film was overall pretty good.

Story – 7

The story follows Jean-Luc Picard as he is sent to retrieve Data who is acting incredibly hostile attacking a peace-keeping civilization. When the Enterprise crew gets there to see what is wrong with Data they figure out a conspiracy that could very well be part of The Federation’s doing. I think the story overall was solid. I don’t believe this story is as deep as some of the other installments, but I do think it is a decent story about conspiracy and morals. This film is also a little more fun it had a little of a Star Trek 4 vibe to it. In some cases, this film may even be Star Trek 4 without the time travel elements. I think I’ve seen this with the Star Trek films. Remakes of old films with the new cast and a little bit of a different spin on it. Also, the story really picks up when we start to uncover the conspiracy and what the Federation may actually be up to.

Acting – 10

I don’t have any issues with the acting. Everyone does a pretty good job.

Post-Prodcution – 7

The editing is done well. The effects at times do look very much like they came out of a video game.

Entertainment – 7

The film does pick up when the enterprise crew starts to uncover secrets about the planet Data went psycho on. After that, the movie flies and it does a pretty good solid job at staying investing. A solid movie overall.

Final Rating

8/10 – Solid Star Trek Film
