Directing – 9
Krasinski directs this film incredibly. He does a great job at building the suspense. He keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the duration of this film. I really loved the way the film is paced. As for negatives, I would say there could have been a couple of scenes that could have been extended.
Cinematography – 10
The cinematography is great. The lighting, the shots, the camera movement were all done incredibly well.
Score – 10
There wasn’t a ton of score. But when there was, the placement of the score for certain scenes felt right.
Story – 10
The story follows the Abbott family as they continue on their journey to try and stay alive. I really enjoyed this film, I believe it might even be better than the first. I did have some issues with some of the character decisions, but that might be my only real flaw with the overall story aspect. I loved how they decided to explore the more universal aspect of this catastrophe, the family is the focal point of the film, but it’s not them living their day-to-day life. How is the rest of the world dealing with this? I also thought it was cool that this film was more, what if we didn’t have a plan and we had to freestyle during this time of crisis. While the first film, it was about the family living their day-to-day life, and they seemed to have a plan if things for some things, if they ended up in certain situations. This film felt more like the characters having to actually freestyle what they can do to survive. There was some of that in the first, but more in this film. While the first film is more about family and their survival, this film, I would say is also about family and survival, but it’s also about humanity and how they are in this post-apocalyptic world. Is humanity worth saving? Who that is still alive is worth saving? Etc. This film was more they have to just make decisions on the fly. Overall, I thought the film and the story were really good.
Acting – 10
The acting is great. Everyone does an amazing job in the film.
Post-Production – 9
The editing, the effects, the sound design was all done really well. There are some instances where the monsters look like they came out of a video game, but for the most part, it was fine.
Entertainment – 10
Other than a few character decisions, the film is awesome. I loved this film more than the first. I’m pretty interested to see where this franchise goes. I hope Krasinski is still directing the next installment because he does an amazing job with this film.

9.4/10 – Really Good Sequel.
