Directed By: Martin Campbell

Directing – 10

Campbell’s direction for this film is absolutely brilliant. It’s crafted with such care and astonishment. The film is also paced perfectly, it’s incredibly difficult for films to have such phenomenal pacing; however, this film accomplishes that with ease. I don’t have many flaws with this film. Also, the many insert shots throughout were incredibly well inserted and framed.

Cinematography – 10

The cinematography is excellent for the film. The camera movement that is needed for each specific scene is handled well. The insert shots are framed fantastically, and the lighting is just overall incredible.

Score – 10

The score is also phenomenally well done. It feels incredibly cinematic, nostalgic, adventurous with a hint of a melancholics tone.

Story – 10

The story follows James Bond as he is sent to play in a high-stakes poker game at Montenegro against Le Chiffre. Le Chiffre has lost a terrorist organization’s money and is trying to win to pay them back. Bond is trying to win so that Le Chiffre can’t pay back the organization. The story is incredibly well written, the characters are well throughout, each scene builds upon the next, there aren’t any moments in this story that are wasted or any unnecessary subplots, etc. In other words, it isn’t just about a man who is trying to stop a man that is going to give money to terrorists, but in other words, it’s about a man who has difficulties with his extremely dangerous job. He is human and he takes some hits, physically, psychologically, emotionally. He falls in love and it comes with costs. This film is about the dangers of the life he has chosen. He wants to have his own life, but because he chose life as a 00 agent he is pretty much forced to live in that world because of everything that it comes with. This story is incredible. There is exposition, but it doesn’t rely on the exposition too many times, it is handled pretty well. Overall, the film’s plot and the story are amazing.

Acting – 10

The acting is top tier. Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen, Judy Dench. Everyone does a fabulous job at playing their characters.

Post-Production – 10

There are moments where I feel the editing for the action scenes could be handled better, but for the most part, it is handled pretty well.

Entertainment – 10

There aren’t many problems that I had with this film. Overall it was amazing. Arguably the best Bond film, the film was incredibly riveting from start to finish. I loved pretty much the entirety of the film. AMAZING FILM!

Final Rating

10/10 – Amazing Film!
