Directed By: Curtis Hanson
Directing – 9
Hanson directs this film well. He does a good job of capturing the feeling of the film. I thought the way he structured the film was done pretty well. I will say the pacing at times is my only real negative.
Cinematography – 10
The cinematography is pretty good. I think it captures the look and the feeling of the film well.
Score – 10
The score is overall pretty good as well.
Story – 10
I don’t have much issue with the story. The story follows B-Rabbit as he is an aspiring rapper and we see him throughout a week of how he lives and the ultimate obstacles he must go through with hopes he can achieve his goal. This film’s story absolutely beats up Rabbit, he constantly has to lose literally everything, he suffers so much and you feel for the guy because literally, everything is against him in the movie. It has many themes of pain, suffering, poverty, friendship, family, etc. This film is incredibly difficult to watch at times, because you constantly see Rabbit and how he has to suffer so deeply in order to try and win and hopefully accomplish his goals. This a good story, I believe that this is a film many screenwriters need to study in order to understand what makes a story great.
Acting – 10
The acting is great. Everyone acts incredibly well, I will say my only negative is I feel that Eminem could be better when it comes to his overall reactions. He does a great job in this role, regardless.
Post-Production – 10
The post-production for this film is done pretty well.
Entertainment – 9
Despite a little bit of pacing issues. I thought the film overall pretty good.
Final Rating
9.6/10 – Pretty Good Film!
