Directed By: Irvin Kershner

Directing – 10

Kershner’s direction is fantastic the film is outstanding. The film is setup nicely each scene is great, it’s not boring, the pacing gets better with every watch. The takes are great, the choices are just amazing.

Cinematography – 10

The cinematography is incredible. There are some shots in the film that just look incredible. The lighting and the framing work perfectly for this film.

Score – 10

John William’s score is amazing, like always. He probably doesn’t have a bad score, and his score for the film is classic.

Story – 10

The story is astounding. It is a continuation of the the events after “A New Hope”. The film follows Luke Skywalker while he is continuing his path to become a Jedi by looking for the Jedi Master named Yoda, while his friends: Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, and C-3PO are trying to run away from the imperial forces that are tracking them down. This film at the time it was released took risks, it ended up going to some dark places, it explores more about the force and how it can lead some to a darker path, and that one must resist the evil and power it possesses, it explores some interesting and possible themes and meanings such as power and that one might be tempted and called by it, danger can always be following you, knowledge and sometimes the more and maybe even sometimes the less of it can help us in the long run, resisting evil and fighting for good, being able to use your strength, knowledge, and power for good, trying to help others that may need it, etc. A lot of those things can very much be life lessons, but also one major thing Star Wars has always talked about is the Dark Side vs. The Light Side and this heavily can be a part of our lives many people struggle with their mindsets and believe that they shape us who we are, but it’s our job to be good and resist the bad. Star Wars also has shown that we must resist the dark side because even though it may have these amazing qualities and gives us insane power it can lead to pain and suffering. A great life lesson that Star Wars has taught us is we all struggle with pain and suffering here and there and the ability to try and fight against it and be at peace and harmony with our selves. It also shows that even through the darkest of times, there’s still hope at the end of the tunnel. This film definitely took many risks at its time for being a bit darker, showing some unique twists, etc.

Acting – 10

The acting is incredible as well. Nobody is giving bad performances and there’s even great moments for every major actor and their character in the film.

Post-Production – 10

The editing is perfect for this film, and the effects work greatly. It can look a little old and unusual because of the time it was released, but it’s pretty easy to look past and for the part it looks incredible.

Entertainment – 10

This film doesn’t disappoint. For new viewers, it will most likely be a different experience, but to most of those who have seen this film it’s a pleasure to watch time and time again, such a great and classic film. Probably the best Star Wars film.

Final Rating

10/10 – Most Likely the best Star Wars film, and most likely one of the best films ever!
