Directing – 7
With Levinson’s direction he does a good job. I do feel that there’s a few things that could’ve been changed, but still good nonetheless.
Cinematography – 9
The cinematography is great. It’s really good in this movie. A couple frames I would’ve done differently, but still great overall.
Score – 7
With the score for this movie, I honestly don’t remember many parts that contained an actual score, other than a scene towards the end, but it felt a little out of place for me.
Story – 5
The story is the issue main issue with the film. A lot of the film is repetitive, pretty much the whole movie is make out and argue. While, I do understand as to why, it felt very much like: Oh, we need to have an argument, because that’s what the movie is pretty much about. It just felt that maybe the film could’ve been a short film, and there are a few times where there’s something new, but the majority of the film felt a bit repetitive. The dialogue is actually pretty good, and it really enhances the characters and their frustration with one another. Both characters while you do understand their motives, they both at times can be just selfish people.
Acting – 10
Zendaya and John David Washington give outstanding performances and really brought these characters to life. Whether it be their happiness, pain, frustration, etc. They did a phenomenal job in the film.
Post-Production – 8
The editing was good, but like I’ve said a few choices could’ve been made differently.
Entertainment – 7
From an entertainment standpoint this film was pretty good. However, because a good part of the film feels repetitive and that the characters are arguing and it almost feels like it needs to happen, it at times is very much like, “Seriously, don’t do this like why?” I don’t want to say they are arguing for the sake of arguing, but it may even feel like that at times. I do understand why at the end of the day, but it felt it could’ve all been done in a short film maybe about 45-50 minute. Still a solid film.
Final Rating
7/10 – Good Movie from and acting and dialogue perspective. Overall a solid film.
