Directing – 10
Baumbach’s direction was amazing. He does a great job with this movie, the actors takes are amazing for pretty every scene. The pacing is fine as well, he makes this drama feel a hundred percent real, some scenes are just every day things one would see in people’s lives which adds to the realism and some scenes do set up more heartbreaking effects.
Cinematography – 10
The cinematography is great, some may see some scenes as oversaturated, but I believe every shot works and it really does enhance the story and the film overall.
Score – 10
The score is great, again it adds to some heartbreaking effects and they are place well for each scene.
Story – 10
The story is great, some will look and say it’s a bit simple or we may have seen this millions of times, which may be true. It works, it gets you into the characters and their lives during this very difficult stage of divorce. The two mains in a way we see how it effects them and in a way they do still care for the other person, but they eventually just are movie on from one another and still having to support their child, it can be heartbreaking. Also, the actors are given just phenomenal material to work with and its awesome.
Acting – 10
The acting is pretty much top notch. You got a good variety of actors in this movie: Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson, Laura Dern, Ray Liotta. With these actors its hard to go wrong, not to mention the material they are given definitely enhances their performances along with Baumbach’s direction. There is one part in the beginning of the movie where Driver gives his lines and they didn’t entirely work, it can be easy to brush off, maybe with more viewings it may not be bothersome for me at all. Other than that, him and Johansson give Oscar worthy performances.
Post-Production – 10
Post production was great, the editing was outstanding.
Entertainment – 10
I don’t remember any moment, if any, that I was bored each scene perfectly sets up the next and the performances and the film overall was great. A film many people should check out.

10/10 – Outstanding! One of the best films of 2019. Arguably the best film of 2019.
