Directing – 10
Sam Mendes did an excellent job directing this film. It’s absolutely brilliant. It perfectly captures the savagery and dangers of war. It also ironically captures the beauty around it. The scenery and the environment looks both beautiful and scary. From the viewers eyes it’s scary, but in a way looks beautiful, thanks to Roger Deakins beautiful cinematography. The film is filmed to make it seem it’s in one shot, so you are constantly watching and focusing on where are we going next? What will happen next? And what obstacles will the characters have to go through?
Cinematography – 10
It’s Roger Deakins! I don’t really need to say much. I could go on and on about how beautiful the cinematography is. It’s just incredible, when Roger Deakins is the DP you know visually the film is in good hands.
Score – 10
The score is perfect! It is beautiful, and it really is perfectly placed in the propers scenes. Whether it be for tension, or just to feel in a way peace.
Story – 10
Many people may or may not have a problem with the story and say, “It’s not entirely original”, or “It’s not entirely accurate.” Regardless of that; For me, Myself and I, I thought this story was incredible. It’s a journey from beginning to end, it’s incredibly engaging, and there isn’t many chances for you to breathe, there are a few scenes that you ay be able to breathe, but you are constantly aware of many obstacles and many dangers that could be around every corner. For flaws our characters escape may or may not escape death many times, but I feel one may be able to look over that. For flaws that’s really it, at least that I can think of.
Acting – 10
Acting is amazing. Everyone is giving great performances. Whether it be the leads or side characters. The two leads definitely great as well and the film does rely on their performances, because they are pretty much the center of focus in the film.
Post – Production – 10
There’s isn’t much editing in terms of cuts because of the way it’s shot to look like one take, but even when there is cuts you may be able to pin point where there would be a cut. But it’s incredibly well done overall. The film’s editing is great as well. The scenery looks beautiful: The lighting, effects, etc.
Entertainment Value – 10
This film is great from start to finish. You go on this very crazy, dangerous, and very realistic journey with these characters and you want to know if they will get to the end. And if so, how? Is there flaws with this film? Yeah. There’s barely any films, if any that don’t have flaws. You can argue that the characters escape death a lot, and yeah you can very much argue that. However, it’s an incredible ride and you want the characters to succeed, you are nervous for them, you really want them to triumph. They go through a lot and you don’t want them to lose, you want the mission to go well for them. In conclusion, this film is amazing, and might be a masterpiece.

10/10 – Must Watch or Great!
